Volvo 144 De Luxe (1971)
This 1971 Volvo 144 De Luxe Automatic was supplied in Bournemouth, Dorset in May 1971. Little history remains with the car, although its low milage of 55,000 is believed genuine.
Volvo refined and evolved the 140 series cars with each model year. This early 1971 car has the “new for ’71” black grill and now familiar Volvo diagonal detail and luxury, upon luxury an electric clock, but retains chrome protruding door handles of the original design, strip style speedometer and for cars, like this one, equipped with the Borg Warner 35 automatic gearbox, a column mounted selector.
Volvo marketed their 140 series in the UK firmly at the middle classes. Indeed, the estate version of the 140 would become for every linked to the aspiring middle class consumer, as the vehicle of choice for Jerry and Margot Leadbetter in the BBC’s Good Life. The price helped cement its aspirational status too. In ’71 a 144 De Luxe with automatic cost £1737 inc. purchase tax. This particular 144 has had some restoration and paint. It is excellent condition and now, surprisingly rare. It’s simultaneously familiar and at the same time stands out and attracts attention wherever it goes.

Client/Customer Booking Fees
When booking a vehicle through TV and Movie Action Vehicles a ‘booking fee’ of 10% of the total booking value charged to hirer. This fee may be reduced or waived for extended or multiple bookings. This fee is subject to VAT.
